MMONWU IBONO AND THE CHALLENGES OF THE 21st CENTURYDons Eze, PhDAbstract We aim at this write up to look at the concept of Mmonwu and Ibono Festivals, particularlyhow they are being currently celebrated in Akama Oghe and Ezeagu local government area ingeneral, and see how these festivals have helped to promote or hinder our cultural heritage,political and socio-economic development. We also present a philosophical justification ofthe Monwu cult. We examine the significance or the roles played by Monwu the traditionalIgbo society, such as entertainment, judicial and social mobilization.
