Enugu, popularly known as the coal city state is a state as well as a city in south eastern Nigeria. located in the town of Akwuke along the Enugu Port Harcourt Express way in Enugu South. The Akwuke sand beach is the main and most popular in the state. people troop into Akwuka beach for one fun activity or the other both from within and outside the state.
2. Ngwo Pine Forest.
The Ngwo Pine Forest, a pine forest located in the town of ngwo near the center of Enugu. The forest hosts a limestone cave sculpted with a small waterfall that forms a shallow pool at the bed of the cave. The Ngwo Pine Forest is used as a recreational area to picnic. With its beautiful canopy coverings of pine trees, it is no wonder the Ngwo pine forest is a popular tourist destination for picnics and also for meditation. The shade of Ngwo Pine Forest is heavenly; the serenity is priceless, and the atmosphere is pleasing to the soul.
3. Ezeagu Waterfall
located at the south central part of the State, the Ezeagu waterfall has a unique beautification due to its natural setting. The site can be accessed through Enugu/ Onitsha express way about 20 kilometer drive from Enugu city turning right into Obunifia- ndino. The waterfall has a large amount of water cascading over the top, creating rainbows in the spray below. There is a belief that the waterfall does not tolerate noise making, hence it suddenly increases to a frightening height when there is noise. The beauty and the serenity of the area makes it one of the most popular picnic ground in the state. Fun seekers at the waterfall can also explore the lake and and cave near the waterfall.
4. Idaw River Hill
Idaw river hill, a hill located in Idaw river, Enugu south of Enugu state. Idaw river hill is one of the numerous hill in Enugu state, although not the most popular of all the hills in the state, Idaw river has become one of the most popular choice location for group and individual who wants to go for picnic, hiking or just a place for relaxation.
5. Okpara square forest.
located in independence layout part of Enugu, the forest which has been an ideal location for movie makers, models, musicians and individuals who visits the forest for one activity or the other. In recent time, the Okpara square forest and it environs has become top spot for residents of the city who either go to the forest for picnic or join in the Saturday workout activities that goes on in and around Okpara square.
