Okpara Square: Located in Independence Layout Enugu. Okpara Square, is the official venue for government functions as well as social and cultural activities. Beside the square is located the Enugu State Government House, Enugu State House of Assembly and Enugu State Judiciary Complex, the square which was named after former Premier of Eastern Region Dr. Michael Iheonukara Okpara is like a place of succour to Enugu state residents.

Okpara Square brings the rich and the poor and everybody from all walks of life together as they engage in both sports, political activities and spiritual activities, Okpara square accommodates even soldier performing their annual remembrance day celebration, festivals and cultural displays like the mmanwu festival, large political gatherings but chiefly among them is the weekly Saturday sports and fitness activities which for over the years it has been known for.

A visitor to Enugu would definitely be loss as to what might be happening at this square between 6am and 9am every Saturday. If not for the timing, the number of cars lined up in and around the square will definitely tempt one into believing that it must be Independence Day. However, a close look will provide the correct answers as men and women of different sizes, shapes, age and heights would be seen trying to put in some hours of exercises. For years Okpara Square has come to be identified with Saturday morning exercise to the level that participants now comes from neighboring state just to partake in the exercise.

Due to the number of people that comes out for the exercise, participants has started forming groups amongst themselves. Aside from Government/political activities thats goes on in Okpara Square, others popular social activities that goes on in okpara square is the Enugu Road Block that takes place between november and december, although the sponsorship of the event has stopped, Enugu state residents still hope that that the show will someday come alive again.

Within the okpara square environment is the okpara square forest, the forest has been an top choice location for movie makers, models, musicians and individuals who visits the forest for one activity or the other.
