Akwa Ibom is one of Nigeria’s 36 states located in the coastal southern part of the country. The state which is located in the South-South geopolitical zone is bordered on the east by Cross River State, on the west by Rivers State and Abia State, and on the south by the Atlantic Ocean and the southernmost tip of Cross River StateThe state was created in 1987 from the former Cross River State with a population of over five million people and is currently the highest oil- and gas-producing state in the country. Akwa Ibom has an airport and two major seaports on the Atlantic Ocean while the capital of the state is in Uyo, with over 500,000 inhabitants.

1. Ibeno Beach

Ibeno beach is one of the beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, located in Eket, Akwa Ibom state, south south Nigeria. This is the most popular tourist destination in Akwa Ibom State and  one of the most popular beach and tourist destination in Nigeria. Ibeno beach which is believed to be the longest beach in west Africa is about 45km, the beach stretches from Ibeno to James Town all in Akwa Ibom. Ibeno beach has become the most preferred tourist destination in Nigeria  because of its serenity and peaceful nature.

2. Oron Museum

Oron Museum is a museum located in Oron,  Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. The museum which was established in 1958 to accommodate eight hundred known ancestral figures of the Oron people which are believed to be among the oldest and finest surviving wood carvings in Africa. During the civil war, many of the wood carvings were looted and the museum was severely damaged. In 1975, the museum was reinaugurated and today houses the remains of the wooden sculptures and other ethnographic materials from across Nigeria. The museum also has displays of bunkers used during the civil war as well as a crafts village.

3. Amalgamation house

Amalgamation House is the building which Lord Lugard declared the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates of Nigeria in 1914. The amalgamation house which is located in ikot abasi in ikwa ibom state, has become a top tourist spot in the state. The Amalgamation House also double as the building in which General Olusegun Obasanjo (the former commanding officer of the Nigerian Army) and General Phillip Effiong of the Biafran Army signed the declaration of cease-fire that ended the Nigerian civil war in January 1970.

4. Godswill Akpabio International Stadium

The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium is an all-seater national sports stadium located in Uyo, the state capital of Akwa Ibom. The stadium serves as a home to the Nigerian Super Eagles as well as a center for various social, cultural, and religious events. Facilities in the stadium includes: 30,000 capacity covered main bowl, Bullet Proof VVIP/VIP areas, Box office, Media facilities, Two scoreboards that comprise electronic scoreboard and video facilities for replays, Floodlights, Eight-lane 400m standard track, Warm-up facility with six-lane 400m track, 7,500 seater Grand Stand, Ambulance bay etc.

5. Unity Park Uyo

Ibom Unity Park is the biggest recreational park in Akwa Ibom and one of the biggest in Nigeria. It is a large expanse of land that stretches from Nsikak Eduok area to Udo-Udoma Avenue. The park was created for recreational purposes and doubles as the cemetery for soldiers and other fallen heroes. Unity Park which is popularly known as Cenotaph by the locals serves as a relaxation spot, picnic ground, video shoots and photo shoots location, venue for Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration etc. There are several bars dispersed around the park, a little exhibition hall for artisans, small ponds surrounded by Palm trees. 
6. Nwaniba River
The Nwaniba river also refered to as Nwaniba beach attracts tourist from within and outside the state. Nwaniba river which is located in Uruan local government area of Akwa Ibom state is perfect for outdoor fun activities and sports like Picnicking and sunset watching, hiking, Canoeing and others. While in Akwa Ibom, Nwabina is a place to check out.
