Calabar Carnival 2017
Calabar carnival, said to be Africa’s biggest street party is a month-long even that takes place in the city of Calabar, Cross River state Nigeria. Calabar carnival has turned out to be the most colourful, most popular and the most attended carnival in and around Nigeria. since the initiation of the carnival, Calabar carnival has helped boost the tourism industry of Cross River state and Nigeria in general as the carnival has draws millions of people within and outside Nigeria to witness the carnival.
The carnival features, music concert, theater performances, lectures, fashion show, Beauty pageant, Boat Regatta, exhibition, etc. The street dance and parade which is the highlight of the carnival will include performance of carnival bands such as Seagull, Passion 4, Master Blaster, Bayside and Freedom Bands.
This year edition of the Calabar carnival will play host to about 26 countries. The Countries that have indicated interest to participate in the carnival include South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Rwanda, Greece, Kenya, Thailand, Ghana and others, while artist from within and outside Nigeria will be performing at the carnival.
This sounds like such an amazing event. I would love to hear more about what happens during the month. It there a set schedule? What kind of activities happen? The colors are absolutely gorgeous.
