Exciting new things are coming to the Art Tech District! One of which is the first Digital Museum in Nigeria Discoverymuseum.ng . This museum is an integration of Art, Technology and History
I was recently given a tour of the space and impressed doesn’t even begin to explain what I think! Videos and pictures of the museum are only allowed in certain areas so this video is really just a snippet of all the museum has to offer.
The Museum features:
– A look at the history of Nigeria
– Physical Artifacts
– Virtual Reality
– A digital Art Gallery
– And so much more!
What I especially found refreshing was the more positive and hopeful outlook on Nigeria, we all need this. There was also a short virtual reality documentary video on life in an IDP camp. It felt so real as if one was there, it was in fact an emotional experience.
It was also nice to see the history of Nigeria from different periods (Slavery, Colonialism etc) as well as the Country’s different ethnic groups represented. I also loved the writers box and music room.
Discoverymuseum.ng is open for visits! You can book on their website or simply walk in. The fee is N6,000 for a tour (about 45mins). It’s definitely something you’d love to see. This is also perfect for children, we need more history lessons.
The team behind this amazing project deserves all the accolades. The thought, creativity, and time put into this is amazing! Talk about storytelling through technology and art!
