234 Restaurant Lekki, Lagos
234 restaurant is located at Lekki phase 1. Its aesthetics are really beautiful which gives this minimalist yet classy look. It also has a rooftop lounge/nightclub where I feel they focus their energy more because the attention they put in their restaurant services is very low.
First, the space is very small, I can’t imagine how the space will look when its peak period. Although it has a nice ambiance, it’s very beautiful for Instagram pictures, It’s just ideal for a few friends hanging out at brunch, and dinner only.
Secondly, it was very obvious the staff were new to the line of business as they still need to undergo lots of training. My waiter was very friendly and enthusiastic which covers for her lack of professionalism.
There were lots of kitchen malfunctions; I couldn’t get my milkshakes, and my sauce container has a vegetable stain in it, although I was beautifully compensated with a free jar of juice☺️. One thing they also got right is that they serve complimentary snacks while you wait for your meals (I loved it so much).
Let’s talk about the meals and menu. I sincerely dislike when restaurants have different prices from the menu on their page to the menu in the restaurant. It’s very annoying, I feel some do it intentionally because why can’t you change the price list at the same time you are editing the one in the restaurant?
The meals are just there, just okay, no memories attached to them (you know you will eat some meals and it will leave a memory for a lifetime that you might even be dreaming about that meal?). The goat meat stew was cooked by a non-Yoruba chef, it was very bland.
Also, most of the meals on their menu weren’t available which made it frustrating to place an order.
What made me enjoy my visit was the fact I went with friends; the catching up, and the fun memories we created made me forget the poor experience (the friends should tag themselves in the comment section?).
